Visit to College Lake

On Deborah's birthday, amongst other things, we went for a walk round College Lake, near Tring, which is a 65 hectare nature reserve built in a former chalk quarry. 

There were a few geese there, but few opportunities for good pictures. At one point a Greylag goose flew over us only one or two metres above our heads, which was quite a sight!



We did see this family of Canadas near the visitor centre, which was at the top of a steep slope above the lake. We wondered whether the goslings would have been capable of making such a journey, so perhaps they were born up there and hadn't been to the lake yet.

Earlier, we visited the Bucks Goat Centre, near Aylesbury, and met some cute guinea pigs.





Hyde Park to feed the herons

We got up early today and headed down to Hyde Park to feed the herons. We left home at 8.45 and got to the Serpentine just before 10. We ...
